1. Introduction

These bylaws prescribe the detailed rules for authors submitting reports to the Journal of the Society for Quality Engineering.
 

2.  Sending Format

2.1 Format

a．Manuscripts should be submitted in a form that incorporates figures and tables.

2.2 Where to submit

a．Manuscripts should be submitted by either of the following methods
　１）Send two printed copies to the secretariat by post.
　２）Send a PDF output file and an editable electronic data file (MS Word file or text file) to one of the following e-mail addresses.
   　 E-mail address dedicated to the submission of papers：post@edit.rqes.or.jp
    　Email address dedicated to QE Square submissions：qesquare@edit.rqes.or.jp
 

3. Page Configuration

3.1 Page Setup

a．A4 portrait size

3.2 Columns, number of lines, images of figures and tables

a．In principle, two columns on the left and right, 23 characters per column,45 lines.
b．Figures and tables are incorporated in the text as printed images.

3.3 Number of pages

a．In principle, the volume of the paper should be no more than the following number of pages in the printed page.

4. manuscript

4.1 Main Subject

a．The subject of the manuscript should be stated.
b．The subject should be a specific and precise description of the contents of the manuscript.
c．In the case of a follow-up report, the subject should be followed by (Part XX).

4.2 Subtitle

a．A subtitle may be added as necessary.
b．A "-" (dash) should appear before and after the subtitle.

4.3 Authors

a．Names of authors should be listed. b. Names of authors should include the main author(s).
b．The first author should be the primary author, and the first and last names should be listed without abbreviations. c. The author's name should be listed at the right shoulder of the title.
c．Footnote symbols such as "*1" should be placed at the right shoulder of the author's name to indicate institutional affiliations.

4.4 Abstract

a．Provide a brief abstract of 250 words or less that summarizes the purpose of the study, the main results obtained, and the conclusions. 

4.5 Keywords

ａ．Provide keywords of 5 to 10 words that allow the reader to infer the content of the paper.
ｂ．Include the basic keywords "robust quality engineering" and "Taguchi methods.
ｃ．Keywords related to proprietary technologies should be selected arbitrarily.

4.6 Footnotes

ａ．In the lower left-hand corner of the first page, the author's name should be indicated with the footnote number, and the name of the corresponding organization, etc.

4.7 Main text

(1) Main text
ａ．The purpose, contents, and conclusions of the research should be written in clear expressions under a logical structure. b. Numbers should be in Arabic numerals.
ｂ．Use Arabic numerals for numbers.
ｃ．Use commas "," and periods "." to separate sentences. should be used to separate sentences.
(2) Headings
ａ．The main text should be divided into chapters, sections, and subsections, and should be headed.
ｂ．Chapter, section, and paragraph headings should be numbered, and should be numbered "1.1.1.1 ○○○○" respectively.
(3) Figures (including photographs) and tables
ａ．Figures and tables should be numbered consecutively in the order they appear in the text. As a rule, photographs should be included in figures. b. Figures and tables should be numbered consecutively.
ｂ．Figures and tables should be numbered followed by a caption. The number and caption of a figure should appear below the figure, and the number and caption of a table should appear above the table, as "Fig. 1 ○○○○" and "Tab. 1 ○○○○," respectively.
(4) Formulas
ａ．Mathematical expressions should be written in single columns (in columns) and should not span over two columns (on the left and right).
ｂ．When adding a serial number to a formula, put a parenthesis ( ) at the right end of the formula and enter the number in the parenthesis. When quoted in a sentence, it should be written as Eq(1), Eq(2), etc.

4.8 Units and symbols

ａ．Use the International System of Units (SI) for units.
ｂ．Orthographic terms, symbols, signs, units, and academic terms and names (scientific names of plants and animals, names of diseases, names of compounds, etc.) should be written in accordance with the standards of ISO and other standardization-related international and academic organizations.
ｃ．Quantitative symbols should conform to JIS Z 8202 (Quantitative symbols and unit symbols), mathematical symbols to JIS Z 8201 (Mathematical symbols), chemical symbols to Universal Chemical Symbols, and drafting symbols to JIS B 0001 (Mechanical drawing).
ｄ．As a rule, the names of chemical substances should conform to the nomenclature of IUPAC.

4.9 Acknowledgements

ａ．If any assistance is received during the course of the research, a brief acknowledgment may be given in the "Acknowledgments" section. In such cases, the name of the person or organization providing the assistance and the nature of the assistance should be given.

4.10 References

ａ．When references are made in the text, a sequence number should be written at the right shoulder of the relevant section, e.g. "1)". b. References should be listed together at the end of the text.
ｂ．References should be listed together at the end of the text. The references should be listed in the order of their serial numbers. c. The references should be listed in the order in which they appear in the text.

５．Other notes

5.1 Cover Page

a．When submitting a manuscript for publication, please attach the prescribed cover page of the manuscript for publication.
b．The cover page of the manuscript for submission of the report is attached at the time of submission of the report.

5.2 Composition

a．The positions of figures and tables in the final manuscript will be adjusted by the printer and may differ from the printed image of the author's submitted/revised manuscript.

5.3 About keywords

a．Keywords related to quality engineering should be selected from "Quality Engineering Terminology" and "Glossary of Quality Engineering Terms" as much as possible.

5.4 Main text
a．Describe figures and tables in the text.
Example: "shown in Fig. 1", "as in Tab. 1
b．Honorific titles (Mr., Ms., Prof., etc.) should not be used. However, honorific titles may be used in acknowledgements. However, honorific titles are not prohibited in conversational statements, such as in the manuscript of a roundtable discussion.

5.5 Figures and tables

a．Figures should be at least recognizable.
b．The units and names of the horizontal and vertical axes of figures should be clearly indicated.
c．Captions for figures and tables should be provided so that their contents can be understood without reference to the text.

5.6 References

a．Previous studies in the surrounding fields are cited. In principle, three or more references should be cited.
b．If the content has been published as an article, cite the original work as much as possible, not a monograph.
c．Introductory books and commentaries should be included as little as possible.

5.7 Submission of Final Manuscript

a．When the Editorial Committee requests submission of the final manuscript, send editable electronic data (MS Word file or text file).
b．As figure data, numerical values in editable electronic data (Excel file, etc.)
